Robert Pattinson, the Batman star, recently revealed that he lied to Tenet director Christopher Nolan about going to the screen test for the DCEU movie. The Batman actor Robert Pattinson accepted that during his audition for the upcoming DC Extended Universe movie, he had to keep the new project secret and could not reveal it to anyone, so he had to lie about it.
Robert Douglas Thomas Pattinson is an English actor. He started his acting at the age of 15 in a London theatre club by playing Cedric Diggory in a fantasy film named Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). Then he performed the lead character of Edward Cullen in the adapted film of the novel Twilight, which consists of five films between the years of 2008 and 2012.
In 2020, Pattinson is a part of several projects. He has completed the shooting of the Devil All The Time, which is Antonio Campos’s project. The movie is based on the 2011 novel named Donald Ray Pollock. He is also a part of the Christopher Nolan film Tenet. And he is filming for the upcoming 2021 film The Batman, which is Matt Reeves’s project.
Tenet is an American spy movie, written, directed and produced by Christopher Nolan. Nolan took around five years to complete the screenplay of the film. The casting of the film began in March 2019, and they soon found the protagonist of the movie Robert Pattinson. Due to the global pandemic COVID-19, the release of the film was delayed three times. The final update of the release date is said to be on 26th August 2020 in the United Kingdom, and in the United States on 3rd September 2020, in IMAX by Warner Bros.
However, the upcoming DC movie The Batman is another fantastic and significant project for Pattinson. In the Matt Reeves directed movie, he will take over the role of Bruce Wayne from Ben Affleck. The critical parts of the films are still unknown, though several Batman villains will feature in the movie. They include the Penguin (played by Colin Farrell), Riddler (Paul Dano), and the Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz). The small reveals from the movie has created a buzz among its fans. Although the project was affected by the pandemic, and the production is currently halted. Despite the coronavirus, Pattinson and the team have continued to prompt Tenet and spoke to The Irish Times. During the conversation, he reveals the level of secrecy required for both the movie, The Batman and The Tenet, and he also admitted that he had to lie to Nolan about the screen test for Batman.
Though it seems extreme that Pattinson had to hide the audition details even from Nolan, the casting procedure is the most tricky and secretive one. Only some select number of actors had the privilege to play Bruce Wayne and to reveal the casting was a massive moment for Warner Bros. and DC.
Pattinson shared that being the part of two big movies is extremely exciting and also tiring for the actor. He also had a lot of pressure not to spoil either film. Hopefully, when the production of The Batman resumes, Pattinson will have to keep fewer secrets.
